Top DJ Event Breaks Records
The 15th edition of Amsterdam Dance Event broke records by selling out its 2,500-capacity conference and attracting 112,000 visitors to its four-day festival.
Apart from the huge club festival, Europe’s – or even the world’s – most important electronic music gathering also provided an important business platform for the international music industry. The club festival’s lineup included Kelis, Richie Hawtin, Boys Noize, Dubfire, and Armin van Buuren.
Four days were packed with panels, discussions, networking events and presentations on the future developments of the business.
By selling out its 2,500-delegate quota, ADE is now proving it’s as important to the dance music world as Eurosonic-Noorderslag – also organised by Buma Cultuur – is to the rock and pop sectors.
The panels were held in Amsterdam’s Felix Meritis and the nearby Dylan Hotel.
The 165 music events stretched across 44 stages at venues including Air, Bimhuis, Jimmy Woo, Melkweg, Ocean Diva, Sugar Factory and Paradiso.
This year’s event opened with the Golden Gnome Awards, a Dutch award ceremony for the dance scene that was making its international debut.
The winners included van Buuren (most popular international DJ), Dr. Lektroluv (best-dressed DJ), Mysteryland (best international festival), Miss Fuzzy (most promising new Dutch talent) and Richie Hawtin (favourite international DJ).
The 700 or so DJs to play this year’s ADE Oct. 20-23 also included Sven Väth, Dave Clarke, Sasha, Paul van Dyk (DE), Roger Sanchez, Josh Wink and Carl Craig.
