Taxi Cab Reparations?

Ticket prices aren’t the only thing bothering music fans these days.

Officials in Tinley Park, Ill., are cracking down on cabbies who charge inflated fees after a pair of concertgoers got grifted.

Village consumer protection officer Bob Zamzow recently offered anecdotes to members of a village committee that included one instance of music fans being charged $100 for a roughly two-mile cab ride from the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre to a hotel, the Southtown Star reported.

The village’s current ordinance reportedly does not require that cabs use fare meters. Officials are expected to approve an amendment that would set standard rates for cab companies operating in the village, the Star said.
