Prince May Play For Irish Lawyers

The news that Prince will be playing his first Danish show in eight years presents Irish promoter Denis Desmond’s lawyers with a chance to enforce the euro 2.2 million judgment they recently won against the pop star.

The Dublin Commercial Court awarded the MCD chief judgment against Prince Feb. 26 because the artist canceled a 2008 show in Dublin at a couple of weeks notice.

On March 26 High Court Justice Peter Kelly said he was making the total damages public because Prince had yet to pay any of the money agreed in the confidential settlement reached when the case was originally heard.

On April 13 lawyers acting for Desmond secured a European Enforcement Order allowing the Irish promoter to pursue the pop superstar for the money throughout the European Union.

The EEO effectively enables him to seek income due to Prince from concerts or other sources throughout the EU.

Desmond wasn’t available for comment at press time but he’s previously said and shown that he and his lawyers are determined to get their hands on the money.

Prince’s recently announced show at Roskilde Festival (July 4) won’t be his only shows in Europe. He’s also playing Arrass Main Square Festival in France July 9 and the following day at Werchter Festival Park in Belgium.
