Chou The Biggest Yet

Taiwan superstar Jay Chou kicks off his first concert tour in three years at the Taipei Arena June 11-12. The tour will celebrate his 10th year in show business and feature the latest and greatest in stage production.

It has been announced that “Jay Chou The Era Concert” will feature the first-ever use of a technology called “360 floating solid render” in a concert setting.

The technique is described as a “solid rendering effect” produced by projections from four different sides comprising eight separate directions into the air.

The effect is that everyone in the audience can see the projected image in 360 degrees.

The technique has been used only for smaller scale events like press conferences, mainly because of cost restrictions.

Tour representatives estimate the cost of the 360 floating rendering effect at about $1.3 million and the show itself at about $14 million, making it the most expensive show ever staged by an Asian pop artist.

Tickets for the Taipei concerts range from 800 yuan to 5,000 yuan ($117-$730).
