From Rollercoaster To Big Dipper

One of Britain’s best-loved seaside attractions is feeling the effects of the cold weather as well as the chilly economic climate.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach, once a rollercoaster ride but now apparently something of a big dipper, recorded a £3.9 million loss in the year ending April 2009. The previous year it made £4 million profit.

The company that owns it, which makes most of its income from the amusement park on the Lancashire coast, has carried out a review that has identified potential savings of £3.5 million and expects to return to profit this year.
