Hartford Civic Center Goes XL
XL Insurance announced December 18th that they have inked a six-year deal with Northland AEG for naming rights to the Hartford Civic Center in Connecticut, which will now be known as the XL Center.
A representative from XL Insurance, which is the global insurance operations of XL Capital, noted, according to CNN.com, that Hartford is considered the birthplace of the U.S. insurance industry.
According to the Hartford Courant, AEG said that it’s a "seven figure" agreement but declined to disclose the terms of the deal, which is the first to sell naming rights for the venue in its 32-year history.
The 16,500-capacity XL Center is home to University of Connecticut’s men’s and women’s basketball and the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolfpack ice hockey team.
