Stapp Charged With Assault

Scott Stapp issued a public apology to his wife and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Dept. after his wife called 911 to report he was "wasted," had thrown a bottle at her and kept a small arsenal of guns in their house.

The onetime Creed frontman was arrested and initially charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, but Judge Cory Ciklin reduced the charge May 21st after ruling the Orangina bottle he allegedly threw at her head wasn’t a deadly weapon, according to the Miami Herald.

Stapp was released from a Boca Raton jail May 21st and will be subject to random drug and alcohol tests, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s office.

A recording of the 911 call placed by Jaclyn Nesheiwat, the former Miss New York who married Stapp in 2006, was released the next day.

She told the dispatcher Stapp was "on drugs and pot. There’s a lot of pot in the house." Nesheiwat also said Stapp had guns in the home. Asked how many, she said: "I don’t know, a lot … I don’t know, five or 10."

Stapp apologized for the incident in a statement, adding that he and his wife are seeking forgiveness from each other and going to counseling. He asked the media to respect the family’s privacy and "let this go."
