Sergeant Resigns His Post
Paul Sergeant has resigned his post as manager of Cardiff Millennium Stadium to move to the other side of the world with Christine, his New Zealand-born wife.
"Her whole family are out there and it was only a question of time before we went out there as well," he said, having resigned his post at the beginning of November.
He was due to leave the stadium at Christmas but doesn’t expect to be moving to the southern hemisphere immediately.
"I’m putting out feelers to find something to do when I get there and I fully expect I’ll still be around to go to ILMC in March," he explained.
Although his venue hosted FA Cup Finals and other major sporting events while Wembley was a building site, he said he feels his main contribution to the stadium was to turn it into a major live music venue.
"When we started out, we didn’t know what we were doing. But, by talking and listening to other people in the business, we learned to do things the way they wanted them done and now it’s nothing for the stadium to host the biggest shows on the road."
