The Sydney Metro Theatre owes between $500,000 and $950,000 to promoters including Michael Chugg, Frontier Touring Company, IMC, Future Classic and Sam Speight, and such artists as The Whitlams, The Veronicas, Pink, Diesel, End of Fashion and Alex Lloyd.

The venue’s voluntary administrator Atle Crowe-Maxwell told a meeting of creditors in late July they would only get 10 cents in the dollar. The first payment was due July 14th by Metro owner Fortress Capital International. Nothing happened.

The club’s locks were changed three days later, and the management team which looks after the Sydney Enmore Theatre and the @Newtown club, Century Venues, took over its daily operations.

The Sydney Morning Herald revealed that a bike gang was looking for former Metro owner Jonathan Gould over this non-payment, and left two bullets on his desk.
