A Brief Arrowhead?

The National Hockey League’s Mighty Ducks are expected to change their name today, June 22nd, to the Anaheim Ducks. That means the The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim can, in theory, drop the city from its moniker.

According to an agreement with the city, either the city-owned building or the team must have the geographic reference of “Anaheim.” Julie Sediq, spokeswoman for the California venue, told Pollstar there is no plan to shorten the name, but confirmed the venue has the opportunity to do so.

Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water, which holds name sponsorship, wraps its contract in September, but it was too early to tell if Arrowhead would renew, Sediq said.
