Sony BMG Staff Switch

Sony BMG‘s Andrew Lack and Rolf Schmidt-Holtz have decided to end their in-fighting and switch roles, according to several reports.

Lack will become Sony BMG chairman and Schmidt-Holtz will take the title of CEO.

Lack is considered a businessman first and record company man second – actually, more like third or fourth. He orchestrated the merger of Sony and BMG, but some execs thought he stifled the creative vibe of the world’s second largest record label.

Bertelsmann reportedly did not support renewing Lack’s contract.

Tim Bowen is considered front-runner for COO.
