Judge Clears Weiland

A Pasadena, Calif., judge dismissed a felony drug charge against Scott Weiland July 12th following his completion of a court-ordered drug rehab program.

Weiland was also discharged from probation a year early, a district attorney spokeswoman said.

The charge stemmed from the Velvet Revolver frontman’s May 2003 arrest on heroine and cocaine possession.

Weiland was facing up to three years in prison but the voter-passed Proposition 36 permits petty drug offenders to undergo treatment instead of jail, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Weiland faces no more outstanding drug charges in California. His band kicks off a tour August 11th.
