Marty’s Big News

Big Deal

The announcement that the Wasserman Group would acquire Paradigm was not surprising news by the time it was made public – the agency had been reportedly for sale before the pandemic hit, with Wasserman a likely suitor.

The agency’s formidable music roster would be an attractive addition to any company in any given year but, given the state  of things when announced and the overall shakeup taking place at the time, the news was huge.

Big Change?

“In this transition to Wasserman Music, we have moved to a company that is run by somebody who is incredibly dynamic, incredibly believed and with a team that is so well organized and just a well-tuned machine,” says Marty Diamond, one of the live music business’ most regarded agents. “We’re really excited about all that the future holds.”

Diamond, along with agent heavy hitter colleagues including Lee Anderson, Sam Hunt, Jonathan Levine, Corrie Martin, Jackie Nalpant and Matt Rodriguez, was named EVP and managing executive of the newly announced Wasserman Music agency. The agency of course now represents clients such as Diamond’s stadium headliners Ed Sheeran and Coldplay.

Big Inspiration

Ever the music fan and staying true to new signings and artist development, Diamond says that won’t change under the new Wasserman banner.

“For me, the great thing in all of this is the great creators will continue to create,” Diamond says.

”I feel so excited not only about my big clients but the younger artists that we’ve signed throughout, they’ve been out there navigating the social space, creating great music, not just sitting in wait, waiting for the door to open. I think there’s been some amazing music that has come out. There’s more amazing music that is bound to come. That’s exciting for me.

“You can’t stop a creative tsunami. We have so many great artists, not just Wasserman artists, but people are creating in a very difficult time,” he adds. “We have people that live and breathe to stand on stage, and people like me, who live for it. For someone bigger than me to stand in front of me and spill beer on me in a crowded room, I miss that. I will cherish that.”

Big News

But the real news broke as Pollstar was interviewing Diamond for this feature.

“The hugest thing just happened to me. My daughter is editor-in-chief. She put her head down, she’s an amazing writer. She cares greatly about the written word and she is editor in chief at her school paper. And she worked for that. That is the big story of today.”
