Foo Fighters Cancel All Dates After ‘Staggering’ Loss Of Taylor Hawkins
In the wake of the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins on March 25 during Foo Fighters’ South American tour, the band announced it is canceling all upcoming dates, including several headlining festival appearances and mostly outdoor appearances including sheds and stadiums in North America and Europe.
Foo Fighters statement in full:
“It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins. We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned. Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together.
With Love,
Foo Fighters
The cancellations put a major hole in global summer festival and concert calendars. In Europe, Foo Fighters were scheduled to perform at Nova Rock (June 10), I-Days Festival (June 12), Rock In Rio Lisbon (June 18), and Festival De Nimes (June 22-23),
Foo Fighters were also set to play multiples at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. In between were amphitheater shows and some arena shows in North America, and a European leg that included many of the largest open-air concert sites in the UK and on the continent, as well as dates in Italy.
Over the course of its career, Foo Fighters averages 16,750 tickets per show sold and gross of $1,169,907. Most of the venues on the band’s 2022 itinerary had more than 20,000-ticket capacities.
