Asia News: Dynamic Ticketing; Nightclub Closures

JAPAN

Dynamic Ticketing Makes Gains

An increasing number of operators in Japan are employing dynamic ticket pricing as the COVID pandemic continues, according to the Jiji Press.

With dynamic ticket pricing, amusement parks, sports clubs and entertainment businesses can set ticket prices lower on days when demand is expected to be low. Prices change depending on demand until the day of the event. Consequently, revenue is more assured over the long run.

Pia Research Institute found that ticket revenues for fiscal 2020 were one-fourth those for fiscal 2019, before the pandemic hit and, according to Dynamic Plus Company, the value of dynamically priced tickets in fiscal 2021 is expected to grow by more than 50% compared to the previous year to a total of about 6.2 billion yen ($50.2 million).

Famed Tokyo Nightclubs Shuttering

Two of Tokyo’s most iconic night clubs will close in September of this year, Timeout Tokyo reports.

Sound Museum Vision and Contact will close their doors for good on Sept. 3 and Sept. 17,
respectively, because the buildings they are in are set to be demolished to make way for a new redevelopment project in the Shibuya district of the capital.

The two clubs happen to be located right next to each other in the Dogenzaka neighborhood.
