Dua Lipa Impacts Charts
With ‘Future Nostalgia’ Sellouts

Dua Lipa remains a strong and steady presence on the Pollstar charts this week and has been since launching her “Future Nostalgia” tour just over two months ago. She has appeared on the Artist Power Index every week since the chart debuted in February and held No. 1 for two of them. In this issue and the four previous ones, she has ranked second behind chart-topper Justin Bieber, but always landed among the 10 highest-ranked artists in the Live, Streaming and Airplay categories.

On LIVE75 the English singer-songwriter makes a move from fifth to third this week based on box-office figures reported from multiple venues during the past seven days. With 16 of her concerts newly added to the database, the overall show count contributing to her totals on the chart is 17 – up from three in the previous issue. It is the highest number of concerts for any of the 75 ranked touring artists.

Among her shows included in the LIVE75 chart tallies, The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., (recently renamed Kia Forum) is the only venue to host Lipa for two nights, March 22-23. The engagement produced a $3.23 million gross, while Chicago’s United Center had a $1.78 million box-office total – the highest among her single-show engagements.

Bad Bunny also has a considerably high number of concerts included in the chart’s eligibility time frame. The Puerto Rican Urbano artist makes his third stand at No. 1 this year with a 14-show ticket average of 16,665. With sellouts at all performances on his “El Último Tour del Mundo” and an average ticket price of $197.86, his grosses from the concerts average $3.3 million to earn him “Heavy Hitter” status for the fifth time in 2022.

The highest-ranked artist making a debut appearance on APX is DJ/music producer Marshmello who scores the No. 12 slot, largely on the strength of his headlining performance at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo held at the city’s NRG Stadium from Feb. 28 through March 19. The stadium-sized crowds at the annual event affect the Live rank of nine more of the rodeo’s concert headliners including three other artists who land on the chart as a new entry: Maren Morris (No. 27), Sam Hunt (No. 32) and Gwen Stefani (No. 41). Other RodeoHouston headliners Khalid, Luke Bryan, Journey, Kane Brown, Chris Stapleton and Dierks Bentley also chart among the top 50 acts on APX.

LIVE75’s top debut belongs to Glass Animals, the “Hot Shot” artist of the week with the 14th ranking. Two-night engagements at two U.S. venues on the band’s “Dreamland” tour produced an overall ticket count of 17,834, an average of 4,458 per show, with 99% of the available tickets sold. The first venue was Keller Auditorium in Portland, Ore., with 5,834 sold tickets reported on March 8-9. Then, at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., the ticket count reached 12,000 at shows on March 29-30. The band kicked off its North American tour last August in support of its third studio album that was released a year prior to the tour launch.

Following a prodigious evening at the 64th annual Grammy Awards ceremony on April 3, the award-winning supergroup Silk Sonic makes an impression on APX this week. Both Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak appear on the chart at Nos. 5 and 21, respectively, based partly on performances of their “An Evening with Silk Sonic” residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. With 23 shows planned overall, the production kicked off on March 2 with 11 shows on tap through April 2. Another 12 performances are booked at the venue during May.

Country solo artist and Staind lead vocalist Aaron Lewis makes a leap of 22 positions on LIVE75 to grab the “Noisemaker” moniker with a ticket average of 2,112 from three concerts during March. He sold 92% of the available tickets at venues in Charleston, S.C.; Robinsonville, Miss.; and Laughlin, Nev.
