Concert For Earth Announces Inaugural Lineup With Black Eyed Peas, Pitbull & More

The first-ever Atlantis Concert For Earth is set to take place July 22-23, and the festival has announced this year’s lineup with Black Eyed Peas, Pitbull and more.

Set to take place from inside a volcano crater in Sete Codages, Azores, Portugal, the festival will be live-streamed worldwide for free on July 23 via Veeps.

“Nature is the true headliner at the Atlantis Concert for the Earth,” will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas said in a statement. “It is a surreal other-worldly experience to perform on the rim of an extinct volcanic crater to celebrate the Rockstars of Conservation while using music as a megaphone to call attention to the need for global conservation.”

Stone Temple Pilots, Bush, Nicole Scherzinger, Mod Sun and Girlfriends round out the festival’s live performances, with Sting due to make a virtual performance. The festival is in partnership with and from the Azores Islands, Portugal. Re:wild, Sea Legacy, Blue Azores, The Ocean Cleanup, Interspace, Juccce and The WhiteFeather Foundation will serve as featured organizers throughout the event.

“Biodiversity, from wildlife to ecosystems, underpins the existence of life on Earth,” Wes Sechrest, chief scientist and CEO of Re:wild, said in a statement. “We are excited to be a part of Concert for Earth, a celebration of the symphony of life on our unique planet and an invitation to come together to protect and restore nature for the benefit of biodiversity, the climate, and all of us.”

Nuno Bettencourt, Atlantis Entertainment CEO and co-founder, had first conceptualized the idea for the festival, which aims to celebrate global conservation.

“These days, words of Climate and Climate Criss trigger so many different motions from all walks of life,” Bettencourt said in a statement. “It shouldn’t matter who you voted or, we don’t judge what your political color is internationally or here, in the U.S. if you are Republican, Democrat, Black, white, Hispanic, rich or poor. Because whatever we are, whether we like it or not, we share the same air, the same water and the same soil. We have all heard about the urgency, but fear is not the answer. Instead, together during Concert for Earth are taking our universal language and power of music goto celebrate the Conservationists and Entrepreneurs from around the world who are game changers leading the way with real, tangible solutions to flip the current narrative of climate and conservation from blame, anger, and doom; to positivity and hope by shining a light on inspirational solutions to get us back in balance with our planet. It’stime to stop telling everyone how we are all going to die, but instead show them how we’re all going to live.”

Festival headliner Pitbull appeared on the cover of Pollstar back in February. His last tour with Iggy Azalea saw constant sell-outs and sold 18,078 tickets at PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, N.C., grossing $869,305, while the tour’s highlight sold out Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif. with 22,287 tickets sold grossing $905,066, according to reports submitted to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice.
