Why Don’t We Cancels Tour & Announces ‘Hiatus’ Amid Legal Battle With Former Management

Boy band Why Don’t We have announced the cancellation of the “Good Times Only Tour” and that the band will be going on hiatus.

The news was announced via a statement posted to the band’s Instagram account, writing, “Due to unforeseen circumstances related to our ongoing legal battle to emancipate ourselves from the production company we signed with when we started our Why Don’t We journey, we regretfully have to cancel our 2022 Good Times Only Tour.”

Why Don’t We have been embroiled in a legal battle with their former management company, Signature Entertainment, alleging “mental, emotional and financial abuse.” Along with the announcement of the canceled tour and hiatus, Why Don’t We shared a redacted cease and desist notice they state had been sent by Signature Entertainment. A source close to the matter told Pollstar that the band’s hiatus will continue until the legal battle with Signature Entertainment has been finalized.

“All we ever want to do in our careers is make great music and perform for all you lovely people,” the band continued in their statement. “Your love and support means everything to us 5 guys.”

The cease and desist posted by Why Don’t We states that the band “does not have the capacity to enter into an agreement with any promoter or venue for this tour” without Signature.

Last year, Why Don’t We petitioned the California Labor Commission to throw out their contract made with Signature Entertainment due to violations of the Talent Agencies Act. This is the second time the band has called off the “Good Times Only Tour,” as the band had postponed the initial onsale for the tickets that was scheduled for April 8.

Why Don’t We had previously been managed under Signature’s David Loeffler, with another of the band’s managers, Randy Phillips, suing to remove Loeffler in September 2021.

The “Good Times Only Tour” was initially slated to begin on June 17 at Salt Lake City’s USANA Amphitheater, and would continue on for performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo., Chicago’s Pavilion at Ravinia, Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion, San Diego’s Cal Coast Open Air Theatre, and more before wrapping up on Aug. 24 at Seattle’s White River Amphitheater, with Live Nation producing the initial round of dates.

After the first postponement of dates, Why Don’t We announced that Outback Presents would be producing the tour, which would then begin on July 27 at Tulsa, Okla.’s BOK Center. the tour would continue on to dates in Houston, Austin, Atlanta, Miami and more running through August and September before wrapping up in Las Vegas’ Chelsea at the Cosmo on Oct. 1. The “Good Times Only Tour” was set to promote the band’s 2021 album, The Good Times and The Bad Ones.
