Breakaway Music Festival has announced its expansion into California with a new event taking place in Oakland, Calif., that sees production/promotions company Prime Social Group teaming up with local Bay Area promoter Another Planet Entertainment. The festival takes place at the Oakland Arena Grounds Oct. 14 to 15, with a lineup featuring Gryffin, Louis The Child, Big Wild, Said The Sky, Tycho and more.
Breakaway includes four other festivals taking place through August, September and October in Kansas City, Miss., Grand Rapids, Mich., Columbus, Ohio, and Charlotte, N.C. Each edition of Breakaway is produced by Prime Social Group, with the company hoping to continue expanding in 2023.
“We’re thrilled to announce the fifth and final festival for Breakaway in California,” Zach Ruben, co-founder of Prime Social Group, said in a statement. “We’re excited to also be introducing a new market into the mix with this amazing weekend lineup of live music.”
Aluna of AlunaGeorge, DROELOE, Netsky, Snakehips, So Tuff So Cute with Mija and GG Magree, Whethan, JAWNS, Jon Casey, and a stage takeover from Brownies & Lemonade are also set to appear at Breakaway California.
“We’re excited to partner with Prime Social Group for the California edition of the Breakaway Festival for something new to our festival portfolio since launching major music events Life is Beautiful in Las Vegas in 2013 and Monterey Pop 50 in 2017,” Bryan Duquette, VP of Concerts and Festivals for Another Planet Entertainment, said in a statement. “What’s most appealing with the Breakaway model is that the pricing is accessible and the diversity of the programming that ranges from electronic to pop.”
On top of the musical lineup, Breakaway California will feature a silent disco, a roller rink, rides, local art and more. Two day passes will go on sale July 21 at 10 a.m. PT starting at $149.
