Madison Square Garden Celebrates 15 Nights Of Harry Styles With New Banner
Harry Styles made Madison Square Garden history with 15 consecutive sold-out shows at the venue. Starting on Aug. 20, the venue transformed into “Harry’s House” as part of his North American “Love On Tour” dates. None other than Gayle King presented Styles with the banner, telling Styles “we don’t want to say goodnight to you.” The banner will remain in the Garden “forever,” hanging up on the top of the rafters. As Styles looked up at his rising banner, his eyes glistened with tears.
“Selling out 15 consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden is a massive accomplishment and reinforces Harry Styles as one of the most impactful artists of his generation,” Jim Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of MSG Entertainment, said in a press statement. “It is a testament to Harry and his fans that a banner celebrating this remarkable achievement will hang from the rafters alongside some of the most legendary artists and athletes in history. Harry has already headlined The World’s Most Famous Arena several times in his skyrocketing career, and we’re honored that MSG was Harry’s House for these 15 incredible nights.”
Styles joins just two other musical artists to have a banner in the Garden’s rafters, with Billy Joel and Phish both leaving their marks on the venue. For his last show in the city, Styles also made the night special by performing a song from his first album, “Ever Since New York,” marking the first time he played the track live in four years.
Fans from all across the globe flocked to Madison Square Garden to see Styles perform. Whether they caught one show or all 15, they got to enjoy songs from Styles’ three albums, possibly managed to hear his unreleased fan-favorite, “Medicine,” and enjoyed all Madison Square Garden had to offer as the venue transformed into “Harry’s House.” Throughout the run, exclusive specialty food and beverage options were available for fans, and custom placards were distributed at each show.
To celebrate the final show, all fans were gifted feather boas in honor of Styles. While fans were earlier complaining about a “boa shortage” in New York City ahead of the shows, the venue managed to snag enough for all those in attendance on night 15.
Everytown and HeadCount were both present at each show, raising awareness about gun violence in the United States and helping fans register to vote ahead of the upcoming midterm elections taking place on Nov. 8. Styles will be donating proceeds from all his U.S. tour dates. Live Nation will match Styles’ donation, equaling more than $1 million to Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund.
“Love On Tour” will now onto Austin from Sept. 25 until Oct. 3, then Chicago’s United Center from Oct. 6 to 15. From there, Styles will sell out 15 nights at the same venue once again, this time at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles from Oct. 23 to Nov. 15. The North American leg of “Love On Tour 2022” kicked off with two nights at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Aug. 15 and 16, selling a total 36,607 tickets and grossing $6.8 million.
Styles kicked off his summer by selling out two shows at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 18 and 19, selling a total of 147,269 tickets and grossing $14.8 million, according to reports submitted to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice. Other highlights from “Love On Tour Europe” saw two sold-out shows at Styles’ hometown stadium, Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on June 15 and 16, 99,526 fans, friends, family, and a former schoolteacher convened, grossing $9.5 million. Following one last stadium show in Dublin, Ireland on June 22 (50,422 tickets sold, $5 million gross), Styles returned to arenas as he made his way across Europe with stops in Paris (Accor Arena on July 5; 14,598 tickets sold; $1 million gross), Amsterdam (Ziggo Dome on July 9; 13,080 tickets sold; $1 million gross) and more.
Once “Love On Tour 2022” wraps up in North America, Styles will then be heading down to South America or shows spread throughout November and December. Then, in February, Styles will travel to the land down under for shows throughout Australia and New Zealand before returning to Europe May-July, with another two nights at Wembley Stadium and a show at Slane Castle in Ireland.
