Garth Brooks Takes Top Ranking On LIVE75
Garth Brooks takes LIVE75 by storm with the completion of his five-show stadium run at Dublin’s Croke Park, his first appearance in Ireland since playing three concerts at the venue 25 years earlier. With a total ticket count of 401,000 during the engagement that kicked off Sept. 9 and continued through the 17th, he debuts at No. 1 as the “Hot Shot” artist with an average of 80,200 sold tickets per show. Produced by Aiken Promotions, the five-show stint racked up a gross topping $28.6 million which averages $5.7 million per night.
The country superstar had planned five shows at the stadium in 2014 but ultimately canceled them when permission was granted for only three of the concerts. Yet, his performance history in the country stretches back to 1994 when he sold out multiple nights at the Point Depot, now named 3Arena, as well as his original three-show run at Croke Park in May 1997.
LIVE75’s “Heavy Hitter” is still Bad Bunny for a fifth consecutive week, and the 10th time overall in 2022 – not surprisingly, as he remains the only artist this year to surpass a gross average of $10 million for a single performance. And only the second headliner – along with The Rolling Stones – to do so on LIVE75. A total of 11 concerts at 8 stadiums on his “World’s Hottest Tour” produced his $10.7 million gross average along with a sold-ticket average of 45,375 to follow Brooks at No. 2 on the chart.
The Puerto Rican superstar also holds on to the second position on the Artist Power Index for a sixth week while Ed Sheeran secures his 10th week in a row at No. 1. A single performance in Helsinki, two in Warsaw, Vienna and Zürich and three nights in Munich on his “Mathematics” tour all have chart eligibility for this issue which earns the English superstar the top Live rank of the week. Sheeran is also ranked highest in Streaming, seventh in Airplay and 34th in the Social category.
The highest-ranked debut on the Artist Power Index belongs to the Jonas Brothers, who take No. 38 based on two performances in late August at Mexico City’s Arena CDMX, one of three Mexican venues scheduled on the trio’s “Remember This” tour. Two concerts at Arena Monterrey followed Sept. 1-2, and an upcoming date at Estadio 3 de Marzo in the Guadalajara market is planned for Nov. 5.
Mary J. Blige also makes her first appearance on APX at No. 47 following the launch of “Good Morning Gorgeous,” a 23-city trek with openers Ella Mai and Queen Naija that kicked off at Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum on Sept. 17. Promoted by G-Squared Events and the Black Promoters Collective, the first show drew 13,738 fans.
Mexican singer Christian Nodal also lands on the Artist Power Index (No. 49) for the first time with September dates on his “Forajido” tour – three in California cities including San Jose where the tour began on Sept. 15 at the SAP Center, followed by arena dates in Fresno and San Diego.
On LIVE75, rock legend Roger Waters moves up five positions to No. 12 to score “Noisemaker” status with the highest jump on the chart compared to last week’s ranking. He averaged 12,807 tickets per show based on box office reports from five concerts at four venues on his “This Is Not a Drill” tour. Included was a two-show run at Madison Square Garden in New York that drew 30,983 fans over both nights for a $3.7 million gross.
Christian comedian Tim Hawkins is classified as the “Breakthrough” act of the week on LIVE75 with a 90% sellout average at 15 performances. With his tour booked mainly in churches, his top attendance was 2,683 at Victory Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sept. 16.
