Ozzy Osbourne To Take The Virtual Stage At Metaverse Music Festival

Ozzy Osbourne’s “Ozzfest” is doing a virtual takeover at the second annual Metaverse Music Festival, and Osbourne himself will be taking the digital stage. The festival is scheduled to take place online in Decentraland, the largest user-owned and operated virtual world, from Nov. 10-13.

This year’s Metaverse Music Festival presented by digital asset platform Kraken will feature more than 100 artists throughout its three days.

Osbourne remains the only artist from the “Ozzfest” stage lineup to be announced, with more promised to be unveiled soon. The virtual festival is free for all to attend and does not require a virtual headset.

The last time Ozzfest took place in person was 2018 at the Forum in Los Angeles. The festival reported an attendance of 12,465 to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice, grossing $1.2 million. The year before, in 2017, “Ozzfest” took place at the Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California, with a reported attendance of 17,146 grossing $1.1 million.

In January 2020, Osbourne publicly revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinsons, subsequently announcing the cancelation of all his 2020 tour dates ahead of the COVID-19 pandemic due to seeking treatment.

Back in August, Osbourne made a surprise appearance during the closing ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham alongside Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi, marking Osbourne’s first live appearance in nearly three years.
