Chart Scene: Harry Styles’ ‘Love On Tour’ Shines On Charts
Harry Styles triumphs on both the Artist Power Index and LIVE75 based largely on the strength of his recent multiple-show engagement at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, the last U.S. stop this year on his world tour. He moves to No. 1 on APX after four weeks ranked second behind Bad Bunny who reigned at the highest position for five. On LIVE75, he debuts at No. 3 as the “Hot Shot” touring artist with a ticket average of 17,080, the highest for a new entry on the chart.
Landing in the eligibility period for both charts are the last six performances of his 12-show run in Los Angeles in October and November. He grossed $19.3 million from the six shows – all occurring in November – for an average gross of $3.2 million to take the “Heavy Hitter” classification on LIVE75. He replaces Bad Bunny who previously owned the highest gross average on the chart for an unprecedented 13 consecutive weeks.
Although only the six November shows in L.A. were counted for this particular chart tally, Styles’ overall box office gross at the Kia Forum currently stands at $38.1 million from 204,916 sold tickets at 12 shows. The original booking was for 15 performances at the arena, but three were postponed until early next year, so he is set to complete the engagement on Jan. 26, 27 and 29.
On the Artist Power Index, his appearance at No. 1 follows high scores in Live and Streaming even though Bad Bunny is higher in both metrics this week. Yet his Airplay rank is the third highest overall, surpassing Bad Bunny who holds the 44th highest rank in that category.
Adding fuel to Styles’ No. 1 placement on APX are his recent arena shows in Guadalajara and Monterrey, Mexico, and Bogotá, Colombia, along with a two-night stadium date in Mexico City and one stadium concert in Lima, Peru – all eligible to contribute to the chart’s rankings this week. The Latin American leg of his “Love On Tour” that launched on Nov. 20 continues through Dec. 14.
Bad Bunny hangs on to the No. 1 spot on LIVE75 for a fourth week in a row, marking his eighth appearance atop the chart this year. He is now in the final days of his “World’s Hottest Tour,” set to wrap on Dec. 10.
Nine artists on the Artist Power Index make their debut in this issue including Adele at No. 13, the highest ranking for a performer making their first appearance on the chart in the past 13 weeks. She notches the position based on the first four performances of her “Weekends with Adele” residency that kicked off at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Nov. 18.
Other performers making a debut on APX are Wizkid, Kodak Black, Blackpink, Cole Swindell, Rod Stewart and Rod Wave. Taylor Swift and Drake also land on the chart at the 49th and 50th positions, respectively, even though, as artists currently not on tour, they had no Live rank. Swift, however, has the fifth highest rankings in Streaming and Social along with the top score in Airplay just weeks after the release of her 10th studio album, Midnights, along with two singles. Drake has the No. 1 Streaming rank and is fifth in Airplay and No. 23 in the Social category. He also released new music this year with the June arrival of Honestly, Nevermind, his seventh studio album.
