Miley Cyrus Clarifies On Lack Of Touring, Says ‘It Isn’t What’s Best For Me Right Now’

Miley Cyrus released a statement clarifying her stance on touring after telling British Vogue in her recent cover story that she had no interest in standing on a stage to perform her new album.

“These looks I’ve been turnin don’t travel well,” Cyrus wrote in her statement. “The archival looks don’t fold. I just don’t want to sleep on a moving bus. It isn’t what’s best for me right NOW, and if you’ve been following my career you know that I always change and the way I feel about that could too. Love you forever, I’m just on my Endless Summer Vacation.”

Cyrus hasn’t headlined a tour since 2015, where she performed numerous theaters across North America with support from Dan Deacon. Reported dates to Pollstar’s Boxoffice from that trek include a sold out show at New York City’s Terminal 5 on Nov. 28, 2015, grossing $195,341 and another sold out date at House Of Blues Boston on Dec. 6, 2015, grossing $168,998.

Since then, Cyrus’ only live performances have taken place on the festival circuit and for her New Years Eve party. In 2022, she headlined Lollapalooza Brazil, Lollapalooza Argentina and the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest. She extensively headlined festivals in 2021, including Austin City Limits, Music Midtown, Milwaukee’s Summerfest, BottleRock Napa and Lollapalooza.

Over the course of her reported history to Pollstar’s Boxoffice, Cyrus has submitted 175 headlining shows and 19 support reports dating back to 2006, selling a total of 2,604,649 tickets grossing $188.2 million. Her first reported date took place when she was still just 13 years old, supporting The Cheetah Girls for two nights at Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri on Oct. 1, 2006.

Despite her lack of touring, Cyrus’ live performances in recent years have been highly regarded, and she released the live album ATTENTION in 2021.

Cyrus has not announced any live dates following the release of her eighth studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, on March 10.
