Paul McCartney has announced the return of his “Got Back Tour,” with six shows scheduled in Australia. The October dates mark the Beatle’s first gigs Downunder since his 2017 tour.

“I’ve got so many amazing memories of my time in Australia over the years. Our last trip was so much fun. We had such an incredible time. Each show was a party, so we know this is going to be incredibly special. Australia we are going to rock! I can’t wait to see you,” McCartney said in a statement.

The outing begins Oct. 18 with an arena show at the Entertainment Centre in Adelaide – the first Australian city the Beatles played on the band’s 1964 world tour. The other five shows of the run are booked in stadiums including McCarntye’s first concerts in Newcastle (Oct. 24 at McDonald Jones Stadium) and the Gold Coast (Nov. 4 at Heritage Bank Stadium).

A post on McCartney’s Twitter hints that more dates are to come by saying “Got Back starts with an intimate arena show in Adelaide, the city where The Beatles made history in 1964 on their first visit to Australia.”

McCartney will be joined on the road by his longtime band featuring Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums).

A Telstra pre-sale starts Aug. 3, followed by a PaulMcCartney.com and Frontier pre-sales Aug. 9. The general onsale begins Aug. 11. The times for the presales and general onsale are staggered by city.

The “Got Back Tour” – marking McCartney’s first post-pandemic trek – started with 16 dates in North America between April and June 2022. Macca also headlined the Cheese & Grain Festival in Frome, England, and Glastonbury in Pilton, England.

This year he returned to Glastonbury as a fan and briefly took the stage to wave to fans during the Pretenders’ set.

McCartney ranked No. 10 on Pollstar’s 2022 Year-End North American chart with a gross of $105.1 million and No. 15 on the Worldwide chart.

His last Australian tour included a Dec. 9, 2017, stop at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia that sold 39,191 tickets and grossed $5.8 million.
