Geddy Lee Announces ‘My Effin’ Life In Conversation’ Tour

Rush bassist and frontman Geddy Lee has announced a speaking tour that will take the influential and entertaining musician to theaters across the continent from November to December.

The tour will see coincides with the release of Lee’s forthcoming memoir “My Effin’ Life,” which drops Nov. 14.

The 14-date tour is produced by Live Nation, kicking off at the Beacon Theatre in New York and making stops in cities including Boston, San Francisco, Chicago and wrapping in Lee’s native Canada at Toronto’s Massey Hall Dec. 7.

The announcement promises a “once-in-a-life-time event,” and will include Lee giving a candid look into his life from childhood to rock stardom. A “special guest interviewer” is promised, along with a special Q&A with Geddy Lee answering questions directly.

Tickets go on sale Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster. Tickets include a copy of the “My Effin’ Life” memoir, which will be provided upon entry at the venue.

“I’ve never lived my life looking anywhere but forward, which is why I resisted doing this kind of thing for so long,” Geddy Lee says in the announcement. “Being in a band all those years was reassuring because it was an ongoing thing. It felt like it was forever. There was always unfinished business: the next record, the next set design, the next tour. It’s been the theme of my life. But you need a lot more determination to proceed in the world of music without the comfort of your bandmates, and I can only hope that finishing this book will release me to return to what I do and love best.”

Lee fronted the influential power trio known as Rush for decades, as the band in the early ’70s helped define what became known as progressive rock, crafting hit songs as well as sprawling concept albums. Longtime drummer Neil Peart died in January 2020, signaling an end to one of the most beloved rock bands of its time. The band’s 2015 tour, “R40” tour celebrating 40 years since Peart joined the band, was its final tour, grossing $37.8 million on 35 dates reported to Pollstar.
