Electric Zoo Announces Refund Policy For 2023 Ticketholders
More than nine months after Electric Zoo was marred by delays, cancellations and capacity concerns, the festival is offering refunds. Promoters of the Labor Day weekend 2023 festival issued a statement on June 18 with instructions on how ticketholders can get their money back.
The festival was produced by Avant Gardner, known for their Brooklyn, New York, venues including The Brooklyn Mirage, The Great Hall and The Kings Hall. Electric Zoo took place on Randall’s Island in New York City, located between Manhattan and Queens. Last year marked the first time Avant Gardner produced the festival on their own, having purchased Electric Zoo from Made Events in 2022.
Day one of the festival was canceled due to a delayed stage build. Day two of the festival also faced delays, with doors opening two hours after the scheduled time. Fans waiting outside the gates on day three were turned away after the NYPD declared the event to be at capacity, which led to hundreds of fans crashing through the gates to get into the grounds.

Fans will be contacted by See Tickets, the exclusive ticketing platform for 2023’s festival, with refunds being issued to all remaining ticket holders. Those eligible will be contacted by the platform and issued a refund no later than July 19. Those eligible for refunds include fans who had tickets for Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, and have not filed a dispute/chargeback nor previously received a refund. Sunday ticketholders who were unable to access the event (as determined by entry scan data) and haven’t filed a dispute/chargeback or received a refund are also eligible. Fans with one-day passes will receive 100% of their refund, fans with two-day passes will receive 50% and fans with three-day tickets will receive a 33% refund.
“We know those of you affected by the issues surrounding Electric Zoo 2023 have been eagerly awaiting a resolution,” festival organizers said in a statement shared on social media. “We also know that it has been some time since our last communication and we sincerely apologize for the delay.”
Electric Zoo has not announced plans to return in 2024.
“When we first set out to bring you Electric Zoo 2023, our goal was to create a completely leveled-up experience that included new stage concepts, enhanced production and so much more,” organizers continued in their statement. “We know we let you down. As we continue forward, we will work every day to earn back your trust and forgiveness.”
