Ms. Lauryn Hill Extends ‘The Miseducation Anniversary Tour’
There is more celebration to be had in honor of Ms. Lauryn Hill’s landmark album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The hip-hop, R&B and fashion icon has announced an extension of the album’s 25th anniversary tour — a co-bill trek with The Fugees that is scheduled in the U.S. and Europe from August through October.
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was recently named the best album of all time by Apple Music. The diamond-certified album is beloved by both fans and critics alike, having made history for Hill as the first woman to win five Grammys in one night and the first ever hip-hop artist to receive an Album of the Year Grammy. Plus, Hill became the first woman to be nominated for 10 Grammy awards in one year.
A review of Hill’s October 2023 show at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, by the New York Times declared, “By finally accepting Hill’s ability to change, I realized that I had misread so much before. Here was an artist — once again, and on tour — rewriting the rules of hip-hop, and American popular music at large. She was not just teaching us how to hear “Miseducation” differently, but showing us what it looks like for a musician to truly evolve and redefine what we call a classic as something brand-new.”
The upcoming tour launches Aug. 9 in Tampa, Florida, at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre and includes stops at Atlanta’s Lakewood Amphitheatre, Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Center, Dallas’s Dos Equis Pavilion, Los Angeles’s Hollywood Bowl and Holmdel, New Jersey’s PNC Bank Arts Center.
The outing wraps with four nights in Europe: Manchester, London, Paris and the last stop at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome Oct 22.
The tour will also feature songs from 1996’s The Score, the second and final studio album by the Fugees — which also featured Hill.
YG Marley will be joining as support, with a poster promising that special guests are to be announced.
A Citi presale starts June 25 at 10 a.m. local for the U.S. dates, followed by the general onsale on June 28 at 10 a.m. local at LiveNation.com.
A Mastercard presale for the European dates starts June 26 at 10 a.m. local time, followed by the general onsale on June 28 at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.co.uk.
Hill is managed by LH Productions – the CEO of which is Ms. Lauryn Hill. Recent reports submitted to Pollstar Boxoffice for Hill include an April 6, 2024, show at Dolby Live at Park MGM Las Vegas that sold 2,421 tickets and grossed $413,651.
The Fugees are booked by United Talent Agency’s Jules de Lattre.
