Common & Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels Announce Free Concerts In New York City
Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage announced two new shows for the 2024 season lineup, with Common and Pete Rock scheduled to perform a free concert at Herbert Von King Park in Brooklyn, New York, on July 14 and Run DMC’s Darryl “DMC” McDaniels hosting a DMC and Friends concert at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens on July 21, with a special guest appearance by Jadakiss.
“We are so excited to present hip-hop legends Common and Pete Rock in Brooklyn and DMC in his hometown borough of Queens this summer,” said SummerStage Executive Artistic Director Erika Elliott. “NYC is the birthplace of hip-hop, and as a longtime champion of the genre, SummerStage has always been proud to celebrate that culture, from iconic legacy and groundbreaking emerging artists to influential DJs to hip-hop dance crews. We are thrilled to present these two unforgettable shows!”
Further guests for Darryl “DMC” McDaniels’ return to Queens will be announced.
Run DMC is booked by One Fiinix Live’s John Pantle in North America. Common is booked by United Talent Agency’s Mary Petro and James Wright, and he’s managed by SMAC Entertainment’s Costance Schwartz-Morini, Derek Sanderson and April Guidone.
“Summer is here, which means so is free music in Flushing Meadows! I’m thrilled to once again partner with City Parks Foundation and Summerstage to make that happen, as we welcome Hollis hip-hop pioneer Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels back home to Queens for what will be an unforgettable set alongside Jadakiss,” said Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. “I hope music lovers from all over join us in celebrating hip-hop in The World’s Borough this summer.”
Both shows begin at 5 p.m. ET.
