Waltz King Heads For The U.S.
Violin virtuoso Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra have announced a U.S. theatre tour in May, no doubt causing great glee among PBS fans all over the country.
Rieu, who has been a mainstay of public television pledge drives for the last two years, brings his orchestra across the pond from the Netherlands for 13 dates beginning May 10 in New Jersey and winding down May 28 in Rosemont, Ill.
The tour includes stops in New York, Boston and Pittsburgh. He returns to the U.S. for an October 12 show at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
Known as the Waltz King of Europe, Rieu was most recently seen Stateside in a March PBS special, “Andre Rieu:100 Years of Strauss,” paying homage to the Viennese composer.
