The arrests came in the wee hours at Hot Rocks Cafe when a crowd recognized the rapper and got excited, club manager Scott Lapensee said.

“They wanted to get an autograph or just talk with him,” he said. When a fight ensued, three bar security guards rushed in and discovered a gun.

Lapensee said the club was closed but about 20 to 30 people were hanging out in the parking lot when Eminem – a frequent patron of the club – his wife and a friend, were spotted. The Detroit Free Press reported that within minutes, a fight started and security guards intervened. “Security noticed that a gun fell to the ground,” Lapensee told the paper, adding that the guards said the weapon was not loaded.

Police did not release the names of the four people arrested, saying only that two men were being held on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, and the third man and the woman were arrested for disorderly conduct. A police spokesperson later confirmed that the rapper was among the four.

A detention officer said Eminem was released the afternoon of June 4. The rapper’s representatives did not immediately return Pollstar’s phone calls, but apparently, Slim Shady wasn’t facing any charges.

Eminem, 27, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, has the No. 1 album in the country, The Marshall Mathers LP.

Eminem’s lawyer, Peter Peacock, said Sunday that he had not been contacted by his client. Joel Martin, a local record company representative, said the rapper would not be charged. “I assume he was held for questioning in some sort of incident which occurred.”
