Mike Watt Is Road-Ready
California punk legend Mike Watt, waylaid earlier in the year by a serious intestinal infection, is heading out with Pair Of Pliers (guitarist Tom Watson and drummer Vince Meghrouni) on an extensive North American club tour.
The outing kicks off in San Francisco September 11 and makes its way east, with 40 dates firmed up so far.
Watt’s recuperation seems to be the inspiration for the tour’s subtle title: Enough With The Piss Bag. After being misdiagnosed with flu-like symptoms for a month, Watt found himself at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center undergoing emergency surgery for a severe perineal abscess in late February.
Post-op complications sidelined the bass player for several months, according to an update on his Web site. Now Watt is rested and ready to stay on the road for awhile; a second tour with former Dinosaur Jr frontman J Macis is reportedly in the works for November.
