Founder Mike Scott, who started the band in London in 1981, has assembled a new lineup of musicians for the tour. The outing kicks off at Exeter University in England on October 14 and stops at 10 other medium-sized theatres and universities throughout the U.K. The trip winds down with a two-night stand at The Astoria in London October 29 and 30.

The album, A Rock in a Weary Land, was released through RCA on September 18.

Scott initially dissolved the Waterboys in 1993 and continued as a solo artist.

In other Waterboy-related news, former keyboardist Karl Wallinger is mounting a comeback with World Party, the one man band he formed in 1985. The group’s latest album, Dumbing Up, came out August 21 and the first four World Party records were reissued a week later.
