Paul Weller Cancels U.S. Tour
“Hopefully we can re-schedule in the New Year when we will have a record company to help both financially and promotionally,” a rep for Weller said, noting the cancelation was a “management decision.”
The seven-city tour was to have opened October 6 at the Avalon Ballroom in Boston. Weller is supporting his latest release, Heliocentric. The six dates he had previously scheduled in the U.K. are unaffected and kick off October 28 at the Poole Arts Centre.
He last toured the U.S. in 1997 after canceling a Stateside outing in 1995 in order to concentrate on his career in the U.K., where he has a large and loyal following.
Weller first came on the scene with the Jam in the late 1970s before breaking up that outfit and founding the Style Council in 1983. He rebounded as a solo artist in the ‘90s with three albums that were highly successful in Britain.
