Pollstar contacted her publicist, who adamantly denied the reports.

According to various media outlets, the über-diva held a press conference October 13 and announced she expects to perform in Tokyo and possibly other Japanese cities next year, though no tour itinerary has been finalized.

“Not true. There is no tour of Japan,” a Madonna rep told Pollstar.

Madonna is said to have told Australian reporters the same thing.

A Japanese tour would have marked her first visit there since 1993 when she performed five shows in Tokyo and three more in the southwestern city of Fukuoka.

Whatever her plans, fans will no doubt be kept on pins and needles until they’re finalized. In the meantime, Madonna has committed to one New York City club appearance – in conjunction with an MTV contest.

Tickets are free and will be distributed through various radio promotions in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

She won’t do a full set, but told MTV the show with Everlast and Deep Dish is “a party 3,000 people are invited to, and I am going to sing a few songs at my party.”

The “party” is scheduled November 5 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York and, according to her publicist, is the only U.S. performance Maddy has scheduled.

There is also talk of a similar gig at Brixton Academy in London later in November, but no date has been set.
