In good health despite heart surgery last year, the 74-year-old Burnside still won’t be touring extensively. He will make some television and radio appearances in addition to the outing, most notably a performance on the Conan O’Brien TV show and an interview on National Public Radio, according to Fat Possum Records.

Burnside will launch his seven-city excursion November 16 in New York City. He’ll also make stops in Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, Houston and New Orleans, where he wraps up at the House of Blues on December 2.

The Delta bluesman was known only regionally and by blues folklorists before appearing in a 1992 documentary film, “Deep Blues”. The next year saw his recording debut, Bad Luck City.

Burnside got a boost in 1996 when he teamed with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion to record A Ass Pocket O’ Whiskey.
