Malkmus debuts the new outfit at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City January 25, and then heads for Europe for more than a month.

Elastica frontwoman Justine Frischmann takes up guitar duties with the band on the European leg but won’t be along for the ride in North America, a Malkmus rep told Pollstar.

The confirmed dates include stops at clubs and theatres in Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, New Orleans, Philadelphia, New York City and Boston.

Though there was never a formal announcement of the demise of Pavement, Malkmus began telling reporters over the summer that, for all intents and purposes, the band was no more. A somewhat disappointing album – Terror Twilight – and tour apparently sealed its fate.

Malkmus has wasted little time launching his own solo career. His self-titled debut album is expected in stores February 13.
