Matthew Sweet’s Best
Matthew Sweet will tour clubs and theatres through March in support of a compilation package, Time Capsule: The Best of Matthew Sweet, 1990-2000.
The 10-city outing launches February 19 in Omaha, Neb., and touches down in midwestern and eastern cities for the most part. The singer/songwriter plays two-night stands in Chicago and New York City.
Best known for his hit album Girlfriend and its title track in 1991, Sweet continues to turn out well-crafted power-pop tunes. Even without the benefit of much record company promotion, he has maintained a loyal fan base over the years while building a body of work.
He recently performed at the opening gala for the John Lennon exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland after wrapping up a tour backing last year’s studio album, In Reverse.
