Donny Osmond Does Broadway
After a five-year run as the lead in the theatrical production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” Donny Osmond is about to launch a solo tour showcasing Broadway tunes.
The theatre tour commences May 12 in Detroit and takes Osmond through 21 cities including Denver, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia and St. Louis.
His February release, This Is The Moment, is a tip of the hat to the venerable show-tune genre with songs from classic musicals like “Guys and Dolls” right up to today’s “Seussical.”
He got a chance to warm up his stage chops on a holiday tour recently with pop pianist Jim Brickman.
The former Teen Beat poster-boy seems to have at last found his niche after ditching a career in auto-racing during the 1980s and a talk show with sister Marie in the ‘90s.
