The disc, originally called J.E.E.P., came under fire when DaimlerChrysler – the corporate behemoth that manufactures the similarly-named vehicle – refused to permit the band to use the name for promotional purposes.

The band kicks off the backing tour May 14 at the Fillmore in San Francisco, and the now longer-titled album hits stores three days later.

Stereophonics have 10 club gigs and two radio shows booked during May. Then they’ll head back to Europe for a tour that includes eight dates opening for U2 on the Irish band’s Elevation tour.

Two of Stereophonics’ members – Kelly and Richard Jones (no relation) – tested the U.S. waters earlier in the year with a sold-out acoustic mini-tour to preview the new material.
