Jann Arden Courts Her Biggest Fans
The Calgary-born singer/songwriter will hit 14 cities in 19 days, kicking off the outing April 30 in Windsor, Ontario, and working her way west.
Other stops along the way include large theatres in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver, with a two-night stand May 16 and 17 in Victoria, B.C.
Though she’s sold millions of records worldwide, she is best known south of the border for her 1994 hit, “Insensitive,” from her Living Under June album.
She’s got four albums under her belt, as well as an armful of Junos (Canada’s version of the Grammy Award) to her name. Not bad for a gal discovered singing Olivia Newton-John covers in a dingy Calgary bar. Since then, she’s developed a witty and personable stage presence that has earned her a devoted following.
Arden last toured in June 2000, but has hardly been sitting idle. Along with putting out a new album, she recently performed in a Canadian staging of the play “Vagina Monologues” while awaiting the American release of Blood Red Cherry on the Rounder label.
