The tour kicked off last week in San Francisco, and will take the band to the East Coast and through the South. Franti and Spearhead take part in the High Sierra Music Festival July 7 and 8 before ending the tour with a Pacific Northwest swing in mid-July.

The group plays seven shows in Australia and New Zealand before returning home for even more shows.

Spearhead’s latest album, Stay Human, released in May is a musical platform for freedom of speech issues. Featuring guest appearances from such artists as Marie of Zap Mama, Mary Harris (vocalist from Spearhead’s first album, Home), and Woody Harrelson, Stay Human tackles heavy subjects, including the death penalty.

Since their inception in 1994, Spearhead has challenged audiences to consider the effects of globalization, HIV/AIDS, the World Trade Organization (which they have protested), and the inadequacy of the prison system.
