The band is busy doing promotional work for “Island in the Sun,” their new single, which includes a video shoot that conflicts with the previously scheduled festival performances.

Rumors that they’d be playing at the Reading/ Leeds festivals have also been laid to rest. The band stated on their Web site that the “promoter jumped the gun awhile back” and the shows had never been confirmed.

Despite the cancellations, UK. fans can still catch Weezer at Shepherds Bush Empire in London, July 3, 4, and 5.

Meanwhile, the band has apologized profusely for pulling out of the shows and anticipates a return to the U.K. later this year for a full tour.
