Presley Scott Harwell, son of the upbeat frontman and Michelle Laroque, died July 28 of complications from acute lymphocytic leukemia, tour manager Scotty Haulter said.

The child, who was born January 26, became ill July 26, Haulter said.

The San Jose, Calif.-based group was in Minot, N.D., when members learned that Harwell’s son was critically ill at Sunrise Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas. Presley died early in the morning of July 28.

The band’s July 30 performance in Great Falls, Mont., and July 31 show in Kellogg, Idaho, were canceled. The group did not know when it would resume its schedule.

“They’re taking it one day at a time,” said Terry Wang, the band’s tour representative. “They were mainly scheduled to do radio shows and summer fair-type appearances.”

A memorial service was scheduled for July 31 in Las Vegas, where Harwell lives. Presley Harwell was the couple’s only child.
