According to a statement released by tour promoter Clear Channel Entertainment, the crews have been unable to finish the stage setup because of bad weather due to Tropical Storm Barry. It takes four-and-a-half days to set up the elaborate stage and while the first three days went OK, the final 36 hours were a bust.

The statement also explained the event will not be rescheduled because the band and the venue were unable to find a “mutually compatible day.” Tickets for the show will be refunded at the point of purchase.

The group’s August 2 concert at the Pro Player Stadium in Miami was postponed at the last minute when Barry made landfall. Equipment had already been erected before part of the elaborate stage was damaged when wind and rain hit the area. That show may be rescheduled.

That was the start of a streak of bad luck for the group. Their August 5 date in San Antonio,Texas, found them minus a member when singer Joey Fatone had to be hospitalized, reportedly due to pneumonia.

The band expected to resume their tour as scheduled, picking things back up August 9 in Louisville, Ky., and hitting Atlanta on the 11th. The PopOdyssey tour runs until August 27, then *NSYNC travels to Mexico City for a September 1 concert and then will perform at Michael Jackson’s anniversary bash at Madison Square Garden September 7.
