ELO Pulls The Plug On Tour
Electric Light Orchestra’s tour of large arenas has been canceled.
It’s been more than a decade since Jeff Lynne & Co. have wowed live audiences with the group’s big symphonic sound and equally over-the-top production values.
“ELO wanted to put on the grand spectacle with a massive stage and light show that the group is known for,” Lynne’s manager, Craig Fruin, said. “And that’s just not logistically or economically possible in this marketplace at this time.”
The tour was supposed to run September 7 – October 20 and stop in two dozen cities.
Former band members have performed under variations of the ELO moniker but group mastermind Lynne has spent recent years producing records for artists including Joe Cocker, Tom Jones, and Paul McCartney, as well as working on the Beatles’ Anthology project.
