More Family Values
After taking last year off, the Family Values Tour returns with rockers Stone Temple Pilots, Staind, Linkin Park, Static-X, and Spike 1000 on all dates.
In keeping with Family Values tradition, the road trip coincides with back-to-school time and plays indoor venues.
As of now, only five shows are confirmed, with more to follow soon. Those shows are Cleveland (October 11), Chicago. (October 12), St. Paul (October 13), Detroit (October 15) and Columbus, Ohio (October 19).
Started in 1998 by Korn, the Family Values Tour was designed as a departure from the standard daylong outdoor festivals. The plan was to deliver speedy set changes on a rotating stage, elaborate productions for each band, big-time lights and lasers, pyrotechnics, and a reasonable ticket price.
For the inaugural run, Korn headlined with Limp Bizkit, Ice Cube, Rammstein, and Orgy helping to land the 1998 tour the No. 50 spot in the top 100 grossing tours of the year, selling $6.6 million worth of tickets.
Limp Bizkit took the helm for round two in 1999. The hard rock-and-rap theme continued with Filter, Staind, the Crystal Method, Run-DMC., Mobb Deep, and Method Man and Redman in the support slots. By time the second venture was finished, the tour had moved up to the No. 34 position with $10.7 million in tickets sold.
