The one-night event is a benefit for the families of police officers and firefighters killed in the terrorist attacks. All proceeds will go to the Twin Towers Fund and the New York Police & Fire Widows’ And Children’s Benefit Fund.

Tickets go on sale September 27 and range from $100 for the nosebleed section to $2,500 for up-close-and-personal seating.

“In the Jewish religion, the basic mourning period is the seven days of Shiva,” explained Seinfeld. Afterward, “you’re required to attempt to re-engage with the world and your life as it was – and that’s where we come in.”

Although the comedians’ goal is to present a night of tension-relieving laughter, they will be exercising caution regarding sensitive subjects.

Seinfeld says he’ll debut new material he’s been working on, including spiels on married life and fatherhood – topics he’s become well-acquainted with recently.
