The ever-ambitious Connick has a full fall scheduled ahead. In addition to his tour, he has two albums coming out on October 23, a Broadway show that debuts a few days later and a film out in November.

30 and Songs I Heard are the first since Connick’s Come By Me, released in 1999. 30 is a return to his classic New Orleans piano-style music, with Wynton Marsalis and Ben Wolfe guesting.

Perhaps it was a combination of working on a Broadway show and film that inspired Connick for Songs I Heard. For the album, Connick takes songs from childhood movies, such as “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” and “The Wizard Of Oz,” and arranges them big-band style.

“Thou Shalt Not” is Connick’s first musical theatre production. He single-handedly wrote and arranged the music, lyrics and score, as well as produced the album. Based on the novel “Therese Raquin” by Emile Zola, “Thou Shalt Not” is an adaptation by David Thompson set in post-WWII New Orleans. The show opens on Broadway October 25 at the Plymouth Theatre.

As if two albums alone aren’t enough work for most, Connick signed up to be in a movie as well. “The Simian Line” stars Connick along with Lynn Redgrave, Eric Stoltz, Tyne Daly and Cindy Crawford.
