Britney Tour Start Postponed
Grown-up pop princess Britney Spears has been forced to postpone the opening dates of her 2001 tour due to illness. According to a rep at Jive Records, the singer was diagnosed with the flu upon returning from a promo tour of Australia and has been ordered by her doctor to rest.
That means show rehearsals will be delayed (you don’t think all the singing, dancing, lights, costume changes and special effects happened spontaneously, do you?) as will the start of the tour.
Instead of commencing October 26 in Miami, Britney and support group O-Town will head out on Halloween in Washington, D.C. The original opening concerts in Miami and Tampa have been rescheduled to December 19 and 18, respectively.
Three brand new shows have been added to the tour. A second show has will take place at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas and Spears will now stop in Milwaukee and Raleigh in addition to the 27 dates already scheduled.
Spears’ self-titled new album hits stores November 6.
